Answer: That would entirely depend upon the location of the cat’s home. We have had two positive heartworm cases in felines at the East Lohman Vet Clinic. Both cats lived very close to the river. If there are many mosquitoes in your area, heartworm preventative is recommended. Heartworm is very hard to diagnose in cats; therefore the prevention is much easier.
